Total Cart Value Condition

The Total Cart Value display condition allows you to show or hide content based on the current value of items in a visitor's WooCommerce cart. This powerful rule enables you to create targeted messaging and offers that respond to your customers' shopping behaviour in real-time.

How It Works

This condition evaluates the total monetary value of all items currently in a visitor's cart (excluding taxes, shipping, and fees). You can set rules to display content when the cart value meets specific criteria, helping you create personalised experiences that encourage conversions.

Setting Up the Rule

When configuring the Total Cart Value condition, you'll need to specify:

  1. Comparator: Choose from three options:
    • More than - Display content when cart value exceeds your specified amount
    • Less than - Display content when cart value is below your specified amount
    • Is equal to - Display content when cart value matches your specified amount exactly
  2. Value: Enter the monetary amount (as a number) that you want to compare against

Common Use Cases

Free Shipping Promotions

Encourage customers to reach your free shipping threshold by showing targeted messages:

  • Show "Add £15 more for free shipping!" to customers with carts valued between £35-£49 (if your free shipping threshold is £50)
  • Display "You qualify for free shipping!" for carts over £50

Upselling and Cross-selling

Target customers with appropriate offers based on their current spending:

  • Show premium product recommendations to customers with high-value carts (more than £100)
  • Offer complementary items to customers with moderate cart values (£25-£75)

Cart Abandonment Prevention

Create urgency or incentives based on cart value:

  • Display time-limited discount codes for carts over £80
  • Show "Complete your purchase" messages for carts under £20

Important Notes

  • The Total Cart Value condition only works with WooCommerce-enabled sites
  • The rule evaluates the subtotal of cart items before taxes, shipping, and additional fees
  • Cart values are calculated in your store's base currency
  • The condition updates dynamically as customers add or remove items from their cart
  • This rule works for both logged-in and guest users

Troubleshooting

If the Total Cart Value condition isn't working as expected:

  1. Ensure WooCommerce is active and properly configured
  2. Check that your cart contains items (empty carts have a value of 0)
  3. Verify your currency settings match your rule values
  4. Test with different cart values to confirm the rule triggers correctly
